Avia Logo: Meaning and History

The Avia logo is a round badge with the letters AVIA in blue on a gold field, ringed in dark red and set above a pair of white outstretched wings. Avia is a Czech company from Prague that began in 1919 as an aircraft maker and moved into trucks after 1945.

Avia Logo

The Avia symbol is a circle with a dark red outer ring and a thin blue outline. Inside, a gold field carries the name AVIA in bold blue capitals, and below it a white winged figure with a blue edge spreads out to both sides of the circle. The wings suit a company whose first business was building aircraft.

The Avia emblem is a compact round Avia badge, and it is shown here as the Avia truck logo. The page also offers the Avia logo PNG with a transparent background.

Avia Logo History

The Avia logo history on this page is a single design, the winged circle shown at the top, with its red ring, blue lettering and gold center.

Avia History

Avia was founded in 1919 by Pavel Beneš, Miroslav Hajn, Jaroslav František Koch and Václav Malý as Avia Akciová společnost pro průmysl letecký, the Avia Joint Stock Aircraft Industry Company. It became part of Škoda Works in 1928. During the 1930s the factory grew into the biggest aircraft producer in Czechoslovakia and moved to Letňany near Prague, where production continues today. It is known for biplane fighters, especially the B-534.

After the war the company was nationalized and became involved in the automotive industry. It built aircraft until 1963, then concentrated on trucks while still making aircraft engines, and from 1988 only propellers. In 1992 the company was split into propeller and truck sections, and both kept the Avia brand. Today Avia Motors s.r.o. is the Czech truck maker, and Czechoslovak Group is listed as a parent.
