Privacy policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026

CarBrandNames (carbrandnames.com, "we") is a free reference site about car brands. We collect as little as possible. This page explains what we do collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

The short version

  • You can read every page without an account, and we don't set advertising or tracking cookies.
  • We only receive personal data you choose to send: an email to us or a quiz nickname.
  • We never sell your data or share it for marketing.

Browsing the site

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. We may look at aggregated, anonymous traffic statistics (for example, how many people visited a page); these don't identify you. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Email

When you email contact@carbrandnames.com, we receive your address and whatever you write. We use it only to read and answer your message, and we keep correspondence no longer than two years.

Car logo quiz and leaderboard

Your quiz progress and settings are saved in your own browser (local storage), not on our servers. You can clear them at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

If you join the leaderboard, we store the nickname you pick, your scores and a hashed IP address used to limit abuse and handle reports. Don't use your real name or anything that identifies you as a nickname. Nicknames are public on the leaderboard. Offensive names can be hidden or removed by moderators.

Cookies and local storage

We don't use advertising, analytics or social-media cookies. The only data the site keeps on your device is the quiz progress described above, which is needed for the game to work. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect the site from bots.

Legal basis

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process contact messages to respond to your request and leaderboard data to provide the game you asked to join (our legitimate interests and, where relevant, steps you request). Technical data is processed to keep the site secure (legitimate interests).

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, including a leaderboard nickname and its scores, or object to how we use it. Email contact@carbrandnames.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

The site is suitable for all ages, but we don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Links to other sites

Pages may link to car makers' websites and other sources. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy doesn't cover them.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For any question about privacy, email contact@carbrandnames.com.
