Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus History
James Glickenhaus, an American film producer and entrepreneur, founded Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus in 2004. The aim was to develop low-volume, high-performance racing cars for the Nürburgring 24 Hours races. The company’s name combines the surnames of James Glickenhaus and his wife, Meg Cameron.
In 2005 Pininfarina approached Glickenhaus about a one-off car, and he commissioned a sports car inspired by the Ferrari P series. It was shown at the 2006 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance as the Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina. In 2011 the P4/5 Competizione appeared as a Glickenhaus-badged car built to GT2 specification. The company’s first car built from the ground up was the SCG 003, presented in 2015, and the SCG 004 went into production in 2020. At the end of 2020 it introduced the SCG Boot, an off-road car modeled after Steve McQueen’s 1967 Baja Boot.
Glickenhaus entered the Le Mans Hypercar class in 2021 with the SCG 007 LMH, the first American entry in that class. At the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans it became the first American sports car to score an overall podium at Le Mans in 53 years.
