iCAR Logo: Meaning and History

The iCAR logo is a black outline emblem next to the name iCAR in wide capitals. The emblem is a tall column of squares and diagonal-striped blocks shaped like a lowercase i. iCAR is a Chinese electric vehicle brand owned by Chery and sold outside China as iCaur.

The iCAR symbol is drawn in thin black lines on a white background. A small open square forms the dot of the i, and below it a stack of boxes with diagonal hatching makes the stem. The name follows to the right in light, wide, geometric letters with a lowercase i and capital C, A and R. The whole mark is monochrome, a black and white design. It works as the iCAR emblem and the iCAR badge on the brand’s electric SUVs and as the iCAR car logo in showrooms and advertising.

What the iCAR logo means

Behind the iCAR logo meaning is the letter i, designed by Cao Xue, the creator of the panda mascot of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. According to Chery, the letter represents intelligence, internet, innovation, individual, inspiration and information. The boxy blocks of the stem give the letter a modular, building-block look that suits an electric car brand aimed at buyers aged 25 to 35.

iCAR Logo History

The mark was released in April 2023, when Chery spun the iCar name off into a stand-alone electric brand at the Shanghai auto show. It has been used since then without a redesign.

iCAR History

Chery used the iCar name several times before 2023. In 2007 a similar name, Aika, appeared on the Karry pickup truck. In 2014 the platform of the Chery Arrizo 7 was marketed as iCar. In 2017 iCar became an ecosystem brand with a digital platform and a direct sales network for Chery New Energy cars such as the Chery QQ Ice Cream.

The brand became a separate electric car marque in April 2023. Its first model, the iCar 03 SUV, went on sale on 28 February 2024. The second, the iCar V23, debuted in April 2024; it was developed with Zhimi Technology, whose car-making division and assets Chery bought and merged into iCar in 2024. A third model is the V27.

Chery changed the name to iCaur for overseas markets in April 2025 because of trademark reasons. In some countries, including Armenia, Georgia, Cambodia and Uzbekistan, the iCar 03 is sold under the Aiqar name. The brand is based in Wuhu, Anhui.
