The Hotchkiss logo is a round silver badge with two crossed cannons in the middle and the words HOTCHKISS PARIS around the ring. Hotchkiss was a French maker of luxury cars from 1903 to 1955 and of trucks from 1936 to 1970, based in Saint-Denis, Paris.

The Hotchkiss emblem is cast metal in a single silver tone. A raised ring carries the name HOTCHKISS across the top and PARIS across the bottom, with a small star between the words on each side. Two cannon barrels cross inside the ring, a round shot sits between their muzzles, and a flame rises from the top of the ring like the flaming grenade of an artillery badge. Wide ends of the barrels poke out past the ring at the corners.

The Hotchkiss badge was fitted to the radiator grille of the cars. As the badge of the marque, it is both the Hotchkiss car logo and the Hotchkiss truck logo. This page offers the Hotchkiss logo PNG with a transparent background, so the silver badge can be placed on any layout.

What the Hotchkiss logo means

The crossed cannons give the Hotchkiss logo meaning: the badge represents the history of the company as an arms manufacturer. The car maker was a subsidiary of Hotchkiss et Cie, so the Hotchkiss symbol borrows its imagery from artillery.

Hotchkiss Logo History

Its evolution is a story of one badge in two forms rather than a series of redesigns. On a Type 411 from 1934, the ring badge has a strap with a buckle across its lower part, and the name runs around the rest of the ring. The same crossed cannons, shot and flame sit inside it.

The second form of the Hotchkiss emblem is the grille badge shown at the top of this page. Here the strap is gone: PARIS fills the lower part of the ring, and a small star sits on each side between the two words.
