The ErAZ logo is a ring broken by a tall angular peak with short horizontal bars at its foot, drawn in solid black. ErAZ, the Yerevan Automobile Plant, was an Armenian maker of vans based in Yerevan, and it closed in 2002.

The ErAZ symbol is a round, open ring that a pointed, drop-like shape cuts through, with a smaller peak beside it and three short horizontal lines near the base. The version used on this page is black on white, a flat design that works as a black and white mark. The ErAZ emblem also exists in blue, with the same ring and peaks in a single light blue colour on white. As the ErAZ truck logo it stands for the vans of the plant, and the ErAZ badge is the mark of the Yerevan factory. This page offers the ErAZ logo PNG with a transparent background.

ErAZ Logo History

The ErAZ logo history consists of two drawings of the same design: a blue one and a black redrawing of it. The blue ErAZ logo shows the original ring and peaks in light blue.

ErAZ History

What does ErAZ stand for? The name is short for Yerevanskiy Avtomobilny Zavod, which is Russian for Yerevan Automobile Plant. The company was founded on 31 December 1964, when the Council of Ministers of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic decided to build a factory to produce the RAF-977 under licence at a local forklift plant. The original staff were trained at the Riga Autobus Factory in Latvia and at UAZ in Russia.

The first vehicle, the ErAZ-762, nicknamed Yeraz (Dream), was built on 1 May 1966 from parts made elsewhere. About 1,000 units were made in the first year against a design capacity of 2,500 a year. The plant built an improved ErAZ-762A from 1969 and the ErAZ-762B from 1976. A real assembly line, one of the first in the Soviet Union, lifted output to 6,500 a year by 1973 and 12,000 in 1975. A new van, the ErAZ-3730, was designed from 1971, but trial models built in 1976 never entered production because of a lack of funds.

ErAZ produced its 100,000th vehicle in April 1982. It was privatized in 1995 and closed in 2002 after being declared bankrupt. It is mostly remembered for the RAF-977K van, which it built from 1966 to 1996.
