Devon Logo: Meaning and History

The Devon logo is a round badge with a glossy red disc, a silver rim and a white twisted ribbon running from top to bottom. Devon, short for Devon Motorworks, was an American car brand based in Los Angeles, California.

The Devon emblem is a circle with a domed, shiny finish. The red disc sits inside a thin silver ring, and a white ribbon winds through its centre in a long S-curve. The ribbon is shaded so that it looks like a strip of metal turned along its length, with fine lines along one edge. The Devon badge has no lettering, so the Devon symbol is the red disc and the ribbon alone. Red, white and silver are its only colours. Devon Motorworks was founded in Los Angeles in 2008 and was dissolved in 2013, so it was active for about five years. The company was known for being the sole bidder for the Dodge Viper, when the rights to that sports car were offered for sale.

The name should not be confused with the county of Devon in England, whose logos and local organisations are unrelated to this American car brand.
