The Peerless logo is a black script wordmark with a swooping banner that carries the slogan ALL THAT THE NAME IMPLIES. Peerless was an American luxury car maker from Cleveland, Ohio, that built automobiles from 1900 to 1931.

The Peerless symbol is the name itself, and the Peerless emblem is a wordmark with no separate picture. The name is written in a heavy, flowing hand with a large looped P, and the last letters sweep upward to the right. A banner swoops beneath the word and holds the slogan in small capitals. The design is black and white, with the script on a plain white background, and it dates from 1908.

The Peerless badge on the cars also took the form of a round metal medallion, with a shield and wings above the name PEERLESS. The script wordmark works as the Peerless car logo. This page offers the Peerless logo PNG with a transparent background.

Peerless Logo History

The Peerless logo history on this page centres on one design: the script from 1908, with the looped P and the slogan banner. It is the old Peerless logo of a maker that closed in 1931, and it is the version shown here.

Peerless History

The Peerless Motor Car Company was established in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1900 at 43 Lisbon Street. It first used De Dion-Bouton engines built under license. Engineer Louis P. Mooers designed the first models, and the first Peerless-branded vehicles appeared in 1902. In 1904 Mooers designed the Green Dragon racing car, which Barney Oldfield drove to early speed records.

Peerless became one of the “Three Ps” with Packard and Pierce-Arrow and moved into higher-priced luxury cars after 1905. It introduced electric lighting in 1911, electric starters in 1913 and its first V8 engine in 1915. During World War I it built military chassis and trucks, including the armoured car chassis for Great Britain.

The Great Depression cut sales of luxury cars, and the last Peerless, a single V16 car, was finished in 1932. The company then turned to brewing beer after Prohibition ended in 1933.
