Brand History and Ownership
Karma Automotive was founded in 2014 in California under Chinese owner Wanxiang Group. The company emerged after Wanxiang acquired the assets of the bankrupt Fisker Automotive in 2014. Headquarters are located in Irvine with manufacturing at a factory in Moreno Valley.
Fisker Automotive had been established in 2007 by Henrik Fisker and Bernhard Koehler. The predecessor company launched the Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid sports sedan in 2011 and produced around 2,000 units before suspending production in 2012 due to battery supplier problems. Fisker Automotive declared bankruptcy in February 2014. Wanxiang Group purchased the assets, explicitly excluding the Fisker name and trademarks, which enabled the launch of the new Karma Automotive brand.

2008 – 2015: Traditional Automotive Badge

The first logo was used during the Fisker Automotive period and appeared on the original Fisker Karma vehicle. This design followed conventional automotive industry styling with a circular badge format.
- Design: Circular badge featuring a voluminous silver frame and white inner outline with two vertical silver lines
- Colors: Bright orange upper half, blue lower half, silver frame, black text
- Changes: Featured an arched black Fisker inscription in all capital letters across the top
- Context: Represented the company from its founding through the production of its first vehicle until the 2014 bankruptcy
2015 – Today: Futuristic Luxury Emblem

The current Karma logo was introduced in 2015 alongside the new brand name. This redesign marked a clean break from the predecessor identity and aligned with the company’s repositioning toward progressive luxury vehicles. The Karma emblem features a more contemporary and distinctive appearance that emphasizes creativity and innovation.
- Design: Circular emblem with glossy silver ring that has a sharp diagonal cut in the upper part, three-dimensional KARMA lettering with modified A characters
- Colors: Deep blue with purple tones, orange and red flame-like outline, glossy silver gradient
- Changes: Replaced the traditional Fisker badge entirely with a new symbol and custom thin typeface similar to Posterama Pro 2001 Light
- Context: Created to represent the new life of the brand under Wanxiang ownership with symbolic elements reflecting passion and precision
The Karma logo history shows a clear evolution from a conventional automotive badge to a unique futuristic emblem. This visual transition mirrors the corporate changes that took place in 2014 and 2015.
