The Panther logo is a round enamel badge with a red ring, a black centre and a panther figure above the name. Panther, formally Panther Westwinds, was a British maker of niche sports cars and luxury cars in Surrey, England, from 1972 to 1990.
Panther Logo
The Panther emblem shown here is a photograph of the badge on the bonnet of a dark red car. The outer ring is red and carries the words THE PANTHER CAR COMPANY LIMITED in gold capitals. Inside sits a black field with a gold border, and the word PANTHER runs across a small panther, with a decorative pattern beneath. The Panther badge has a glossy enamel finish, and the black panther gives the Panther symbol its animal theme, so the Panther car logo reads as a classic bonnet badge. This page offers the Panther logo PNG with a transparent background.
Panther Logo History
The Panther logo history includes a second enamel badge from the Panther Westwinds years. The old Panther logo is a rectangular badge with a Union Flag above the word PANTHER, set in silver letters on a white bar.

The round badge on the bonnet belongs to the later years, when the cars were built by The Panther Car Company at Brooklands from 1984 to 1988. It swaps the flag for a ring that names the company, around a black field and the panther, and it is the version shown on this page.

Panther History
Panther was founded in 1972 by Robert Jankel. The company first made retro-styled cars on the mechanical parts of production cars from other makers. The Lima had a fibreglass bodyshell, the 1975 Rio was based on the Triumph Dolomite but finished to “Rolls-Royce standards”, and the three-axle Panther 6 was built in just two examples.
Panther Westwinds collapsed in 1980 and was bought by Young Chull Kim. The J72, De Ville and Lima restarted in 1981, and from 1983 Kim’s Jindo Corporation supplied the chassis and body of the Kallista, built at Byfleet and from 1984 within Brooklands. In 1987 Jindo sold its interest to SsangYong, which opened a second factory at Harlow, Essex, in 1988. In 1990 SsangYong ended Kallista production and then the Solo, a modern sports car that Panther had been developing since 1983.
Jankel bought the Panther name back in 2001 and was finishing a new sports car design when he died in 2005.
