Livan Logo: Meaning and History

The Livan logo is black: two slanted, diamond-shaped marks on the left and the name LIVAN in wide, geometric capitals on the right. Livan is a Chinese car brand from Shanghai that Geely Holding Group launched in 2022, first for electric cars and, in some export markets, for budget petrol models.

The Livan symbol is a pair of tilted diamond shapes that lean to the right, drawn in solid black. They stand to the left of the wordmark, where LIVAN is set in wide capitals with open, angular letters and a small dot-like accent over the I. The Livan emblem therefore combines a graphic mark and a name, and the Livan badge on the cars is the same design. In Russia the Livan car logo appears in this form. Livan History

Livan Automotive, called Ruilan in Chinese, was founded in 2022. On January 24, 2022, after Zhejiang Geely Holding acquired Lifan Group, Geely merged its Maple Automobile subsidiary into the new Livan brand, and Maple became a model name. Maple itself began as Shanghai Maple in 2000, was folded into Geely as a budget brand, and was revived in 2020 with electric cars based on Geely petrol models.

In China Livan aimed at battery-swapping electric vehicles. The Maple Leaf 60S was Geely’s first battery-swap car under the brand, and the Livan 7 and Livan 9 followed as electric crossovers. Livan entered the Russian market in mid-2023 as Geely’s budget brand, selling older Geely models with changed styling. In 2025 it began selling petrol models in markets such as Spain and the United Arab Emirates. An Indonesian partner sold the Livan 8 as the Aletra L8 from November 2024.

Livan is a joint venture in which Lifan Technology, renamed Qianli Technology in 2025, holds 55 percent and Geely Qizheng 45 percent. In April 2025 the Livan marque became a product line under Geely Auto in China.
