The DuPont logo is a black-and-white badge with an intertwined d and P monogram above a panel that reads DUPONT. DuPont, or Du Pont Motors, was an American maker of high-end automobiles built in Wilmington, Delaware, between 1919 and 1931.

The DuPont logo is a tall engraved badge in a rectangle. The upper part shows the monogram of a lowercase d and a capital P tied together, and below it a separate panel carries the word DUPONT in capital letters. The design uses only black and white, and the grainy, dotted texture comes from the printed reproduction of the original metal badge.

The monogram acts as the DuPont symbol and the DuPont emblem of the cars, and the panel with the name makes the whole piece a classic DuPont badge. The image here is the DuPont car logo as it appeared in period advertising. This page offers the DuPont logo PNG with a transparent background.

DuPont History

Du Pont Motors was founded by E. Paul du Pont to produce marine engines for the Allied nations during the First World War. After the war the company built extremely high-end automobiles in Wilmington. His resources allowed him to hire top automotive and management talent.

The first product, the Model A, was introduced at the 1919 International Salon at the Commodore Hotel in New York City, an invitation-only event for the wealthy. The Model G followed in 1928 with a 5.3 liter side-valve straight-eight engine of 125 hp. Between 1919 and 1931 the company produced about 625 cars, which were compared with Packard, Cadillac, Stutz and Duesenberg for their quality and style. Customers included Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Will Rogers and Jack Dempsey.

The company went bankrupt in 1932 and was merged into the Indian Motorcycle Company when E. Paul du Pont bought the motorcycle maker.
